Foto Friday – Lansing Michigan Capitol Building
Protestors gather in front of the Capitol steps on Tuesday, March 8, 2011
to protest Emergency Financial Managers’ powers that could be voted into
law in cities across Michigan in economic straits.
This is a view from the 4th floor into the well of the Capitol rotunda.
The paintings on the walls are former Michigan governors.
Looking up into the rotunda dome from the first floor, our Capitol building
was restored to its original glory in 1992. It is on the National Historic
Register of Places and a National Historic Landmark. Originally completed
in 1878, it was built in the Renaissance style.
Above, is the Michigan House of Representatives just closing session for
the day. The representatives recognized the groups in the gallery visiting
their chamber for the day.
