Foto Friday: Why Robins Go South for a Michigan Winter

This little Robin’s nest is empty and filled with snow –

vacant for the winter. As the first of March rolls around,

our pair of robins will be back to add another layer and make

this Crabapple tree in our front yard home again.

They prefer to live in West Michigan Spring, Summer and Fall.

Maybe they were looking for Spring in Michigan on the Vernal Equinox. ( sigh)

The Capital Building in Lansing Michigan was restored to it’s

original 1879 Neoclassical splendor in 1992. The classic Italianate style,

a sub-style of Neoclassical, is ornate with carvings, custom chandeliers,

painted borders, and gold leaf details. If you haven’t made a pilgrimage

to see our state Capital building, we hope this photo of the 133 year old

rotunda will wet your appetite.

Be sure to let your local representative know you are coming, they

typically announce visitors on the floor, if the legislature is in session.

This photo montage takes you on a little trip to northern Michigan on

a gorgeous fall day in early October. The links at Arcadia Bluffs was our

challenge for the day. Does fair weather, challenging golf, and good

friends make for a memorable day?

The club house at Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club consists of the clubhouse

and restaurant on the lower level and The Lodge with 15 guest rooms on

the top level. What a view!

Speaking of views, this is a spectacular view of Lake Michigan from the

tee on the bluffs.

Another breathtaking view on this challenging course. Of course,

if you can stay on the fairway, it is a breeze!

The scenery looking east toward inland of the golf course.

A strikingly beautiful fall day in Michigan. The weather was in the 70’s and

we had a wonderful day on the links.

Another view of the skyline from these bluffs, and the rolling

landscape of the golf course equal Michigan golf at it’s best.

Classic Car Show Wyoming Michigan 2011

Classic Car Show Wyoming Michigan 2011

If you are of a certain age, these classic cars shown at the Classic Car Show

in Wyoming Michigan on July 24, 2011 at the Resurrection Life Church will

bring back lots of memories.

I really appreciated the details on this classic car from the 1950’s. I recall

those white interiors and the fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror.

The drive in restaurant tray with the food really brought back our younger

days. We used to get strawberry pie from Big Boy’s on Pearl St

delivered by car hop! Can you remember those days??
